Saving My Life

Anything I post on here about PCOS or any other condition, is general information or information I've accumulated in my experience having PCOS or other conditions. I'm not a doctor, so nothing I say should EVER take place of a real diagnosis from your doctor. My eating plan described on this blog is one I've made for myself and I'm constantly changing it according to my body's needs.

April 12th Food Log and a Duh Moment

Ok, so I've been craving more carbs....more chocolate here lately and I related it to withdrawal. Well, I didn't even realize how close it is to my Tom (time of month). Actually, I started a little early so I guess I didn't realize how much "stuff" my body truly has going on. It totally explains my chocolate cravings though. Another thing I realized today too is that I'm not cramping nearly as much as usual. I've not had to take one pain reliever today, so that lets me know b/t the meds and losing some weight, my body is already making steps to regulate itself. I'm soooooo happy and relieved.
Another thing I realized today is that I've not been taking in nearly enough protein for breakfast here lately. I've totally been skipping out on my walnuts in the morning. So, I made sure to throw some in at breakfast and I ate one of my big salads for lunch. Since I ate more protein and had more fiber from veggies/fruit...I was able to go without a night snack. I'm tellin ya, this whole thing is one big friggin science project. What you put in, is very relevant to what you're going to output, meaning whether or not you have a positive mood, crave more food, and have more energy. Also, hydration is super important. If I do not have ample fluids, I mistake thirst for hunger. Herbal tea is so good for you and many people do not realize different ones do different things for your body. Like peppermint tea; it slows down your digestion and also aids bad breath b/c of peppermint's antibacterial properties. It's a good tea to have after dinner so you feel satiated for the remainder of the day (unless like me for the past few days you've been hormonal and going through withdrawal...lol..I swear I've been drinking it). Green tea is known for having tons of antioxidants and also the caffeine in it can boost weightloss...not to mention giving you a kick of energy. For me, I also notice it will keep my appetite at bay sometimes. There's a tea for almost any ailment. They can truly aid. I think I will be trying some chamomile soon to help with stress...I've definitely been stressed out lately. Anway, here's what I ate:

Breakfast: 1c. Organic Pumpkin Flax granola, 1c. almond milk, 6-7 raw walnuts

Lunch: Big salad (arugula, romaine, green apple, cranberries, green bell pepper, sprinkle of cheddar, small handful of cashews, 2tbsp. Newman's Own ranch dressing), small handful all natural potato chips (potatos, olive oil, light sea salt)

Dinner: Pineapple Teriyaki salmon filet, salad, steamed veggies, 1tbsp. dressing, 2 whole wheat rolls
Dessert: 4 small squares 75%dark chocolate

Lots of passion fruit/jasmine/green tea and lots of peppermint tea....probably 4 cups each. I feel good about today. :)

  1. What a great post, Kim! I find it fun to figure this stuff out. Peppermint tea has been something I've drank my whole life thanks to my mom. I love it. I mix peppermint and green tea together ... try it sometime. It takes the bitter edge off the green tea.

    Your menu sounds very delicious.
