Saving My Life

Anything I post on here about PCOS or any other condition, is general information or information I've accumulated in my experience having PCOS or other conditions. I'm not a doctor, so nothing I say should EVER take place of a real diagnosis from your doctor. My eating plan described on this blog is one I've made for myself and I'm constantly changing it according to my body's needs.

Lunch: Leftover Kashi pizza from yesterday, salad (arugula, romaine, cranberries, a few shreds of leek/mushroom cheese, 8 cashews)

I was going to eat a whole wheat English muffin w/ this but I was so full. I definitely met my daily requirements of veggies. lol

Snack: whole wheat english muffin w/ 1tbsp. dark chocolate PB (the all natural stuff...good ingredients), 1/2c. milk
What can I say? I got hungry. lol I think I did good today. I love the natural high I get from eating nutritious food. Now, I've gotta be a good girl until the 12th. I've done good this week...I just need to be consistantly good until I meet my 2 month goal. I'm throwing a Birthday Spa Party Sleepover next weekend for my daughter Laurel, who is turning the big 10 (which makes me want to cry b/c I can't believe my baby girl will be in the two-digits now). (Her b-day is actually on the 31st) There will be goodies there and I plan on splurging a little then. Fortunately, since the theme of the party is "A day at the Spa", there will be a good bit of healthy food....I've just gotta figure out what that healthy food is gonna be. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can make that little girls would consider party food, but is healthy?  What foods do you think of when you think "spa"? Thanks ahead of time for the suggestions. I hope you all are having a super, great, productive week. What good things are happening in your week? I know Chris at A Deliberate Life jogged 3 miles, and AutumnForest over at Ghost Hunting Theories needs new pants b/c they are too loose. Way to go guys! Those are just a couple off the top of my head, but they don't have to be weight loss related. I'd love to hear. :)

I've posted pics of my son twice on this blog, but have never put a pic of my daughter on this one (although she had an entry on my other blog almost soley devoted to pics of her in Charlotte's Web...lol), So, here's my babies. They are growing up too fast. :(

  1. Yogurt parfat with layers of yogurt, granola, berries in a clear glass or clear plastic cup. Glasses of sparkling water with slices of orange and lime.

  2. That's a really good one...I could put them in little clear plastic shot cups and put them on a platter. That'll be yummy and colorful. Ya know, I keep meaning to try fruit water made with Perrier...I just forget and then I guzzle the Perrier too fast. lol

Thanks for the comment on my blog. As for my food plan, I eat 6 times a day (every 3-4 hours to keep my metabolism stoked)); 3 meals (around 500 calories), and 3 snacks (around 200 calories). Each meal and snack has at least some protein and either a fruit or vegetable. Carbs are sprinkled in for balance. I rarely eat anything processed, I prefer whole foods and I drink at least 100oz of H2O each day.

Like you I know how to lose weight, but the mental part has always tripped me up in the past.

Anyway your comment was really well thought out and it sounds like we share some of the same strategies. I'm going to give you a link on my blog site and I'll be adding you to my list of blogs I check out regularly. Stay strong!

  4. Cute babies and I love your daughters curly hair. I love girls with curls!!! Well, when my mom and I went to the spa we had salads but I remember seeing little sandwiches on the menu. So you can make different kinds of mini sandwiches. I doubt they'll want to eat salad. How bout fruit kabobs? IDK know what 10 year old girls like. I have two big ole boys.

You asked for recipes from my last post, I pretty much made them up. For the fried shrimp, I coated the shrimp in egg whites and Frank's hot sauce. Next I dipped the shrimp in Panko bread crumbs and baked at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. I really couldn't taste the hot sauce, so next time I think I will just season the shrimp with spices. I like the Panko b/c it makes the shrimp crunchy.

For the curry chicken salad I chopped up some leftover chicken that my mom grilled. I used 2 tsp of the wal-mart brand spicy mustard and 1 tsp of mayo. I sprinkled in some black pepper and curry to taste.
